Recognizing the plant
The opposite leaves of Brickellia amplexicaulis have rounded to heart-shaped bases that clasp the stem, rather than narrowing into a conspicuous stalk. Its branched arrays hold small heads of pale yellow or cream florets, sometimes tinged reddish or purple. The fruits have a crown of numerous white bristles.
